Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data ibig.ai (“ibig.ai”, “we”) collects when you use ibig.ai, why, and what you can do about it. We collect only what we need for the purpose you see on the form, and we never sell personal data.

Who we are

ibig.ai (“I Buy in Groups”) shows the public record of new residential projects in Bengaluru and brings buyers of the same project together to ask the builder for a group price. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. What we collect

  • When you join a buyers’ group, ask for a price list or ask for an alert: your name, mobile number, the project, and anything optional you add (home type, budget, when you plan to buy).
  • When you ask a question: the question, your name and mobile number. Only your first name is shown with a published question.
  • When you review a builder: the review and ratings, the project, booking month, tower and flat number, your name and mobile number. Only the review, ratings, project, home type and booking month are published; your name, number and flat are used only for our verification call. Reviews can only be written from a logged-in account.
  • If you create an account (My ibig): your email address, and what you choose to add (name, mobile number, preferences), the projects and searches you save, your alerts and settings, and a record of the consents you gave.
  • Automatically: to count page views we keep a daily, one-way coded key made from your IP address and browser; it cannot be traced back to you and the code changes every day. Our servers keep standard technical logs for security. When you log in we record the time, IP address and browser of the session, and with each review or question we record the IP address and browser it came from, to detect fake or abusive posts; only our team sees them.

Why we use it

  • To run the buyers’ group you joined: count the group, contact you, and ask the builder for a group price and terms.
  • To send you the price list or alert you asked for.
  • To answer your question and to verify your review before publishing it.
  • To run your account: log you in with a one-time code, show your activity, and email the alerts you choose (and only the news you opt in to).
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and meet our legal obligations.

We rely on your consent, given on each form, and you can withdraw it at any time (see your rights below).

Who we share it with

  • The builder of the project you chose, when the form says so (joining a group or asking for a price list): your name, mobile number and the details you gave, so their sales team can give you the group offer or price. We do not share your data with other builders.
  • Service providers who process data for us, under contract and only for that service: Hetzner (servers, Finland, EU), Cloudflare (network delivery and security), Zoho ZeptoMail (sending our emails, India data centre), and Anthropic (writes the instant answers to questions; it receives the question text and the project’s public record, not your name or number). Maps on our pages load from Esri, which sees your IP address as any website you visit would.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose you gave it for, and delete it after that or when you ask, unless the law requires us to keep it. Account data is deleted when you delete your account. Published reviews stay on the site without your name or contact details.

Cookies and storage

We set one cookie, only when you log in: it keeps you logged in (90 days, renewed while you use the site). There are no advertising or tracking cookies. When you arrive through a link someone shared, the page remembers the link’s code in your browser for that visit so the person who shared it can be credited.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:

  • get a summary of your personal data and how it is used: in My ibig use Download my data, or write to us;
  • correct or update it: in My ibig settings, or write to us;
  • have it erased: Delete my account in My ibig settings, or write to us (also for group joins or requests made without an account);
  • withdraw consent, for example stop alert emails in settings or with the unsubscribe link in any alert email;
  • nominate a person to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity;
  • raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

ibig.ai is not meant for children under 18.
